One of a kind knives that will last a lifetime
If you are looking for a knife, there are several options. There are some that are available immediately, as they are in stock, or if you are looking for something different, a selection of previously made knives can be used as a guideline. If you still cannot find anything to suite your taste or requirement, a knife can be made specifically to your design.
Blade material
Unless otherwise indicated most of my knives are crafted from Böhler-Uddeholm N690, a high-end stainless knife steel, known for its exceptional strength, durability and edge retention.
Technically, it is a martensitic chromium steel with high carbon-content, cobalt-, molybdenum- and vanadium-are additionally included.
C | Si | Mn | Cr | Mo | V | Co |

Bolster material
The bolster is the metal portion between the knife handle and the blade.
The bolsters on my knives are kept in place by pins that are peened in place, no glue is utilised.
Generally stainless steel or nickel silver are utilised for my bolsters. Whereas nickel silver is “more exotic”, it is less hard wearing than stainless steel. Stainless steel also requires additional effort to shape the bolster, so there is a play off of using a less “exotic” material that is mute, at it is costly to use (effort wise), and is more durable.
Handle material
There is an endless supply of options as to what material one can use for a knife handle. Generally the more exotic the material, the higher the price of the knife.
I have a passion for hard woods, especially African hardwoods, and I predominantly make use of them for the handles of my knives. I do however do everything I can to ensure that all of the wood used is responsibly sourced.
The bolsters on my knives are kept in place by pins and epoxy glue.
Blade protection
All of my knives come with some form of blade protection. This will either be in the form of a sheath, or for kitchen knives a “blade protector”.
Almost all of the supplied sheaths are of high quality leather, hand sticked and stained.
The unique kitchen knife blade protectors are designed to be protective, decorative and a means to display the knife. In some instances the blade protector is made from the same wood as the handle of the knife, giving a special appearance. Internally the knife is protected by a genuine leather insert, and held in place by twin magnets.
Pins
Pins are typically used to attach the bolsters, pommels and handle material. Generally the bolster’s and pommel’s pins are the same material as the bolster and pommel, making them “invisible”.
The pins that hold the handle material in place are often not only to keep the handle material in place, but can also be decorative.
Customised engraving
On request, the knife can have laser engraving included on the blade. This could be for example a name or a date.
Certificate of authenticity
Each knife is supplied with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Below is an example of a certificate.
